April Happenings part 8
Being a bit of a foody and having my brother around , the birthday tea became quite high, though hash brownies weren't offered. But here is a list of what was. ( this should interest my son, making hay/wine in NZ )
Rye-wholemeal-fruit -sourdough-White Italian-baguette.
Advacardo-yeast extract-apricot jam-wild cherry-local honey-smoked salmon-
Meat snacks from Poland ( across the road from L'Ache is a Polish deli )
Polish cheese cake-chocolate digestives-ginger nuts-Victoria sponge
Frozen yogurt, cranberry flavoured with blueberries .
In the seventies, when I had the cafe, we went up to The Dorchester Hotel Park Lane London , and had their High Tea. I used to work in the pastry dept. fifteen years earlier and we were served by the waiters that I recognised . I think we must have been celebrating my birthday.
But this time it's my 77th apparently it's quite auspicious . Interestingly, it's taken me many years to celebrate myself in the Walt Whitman tradition . Maybe as a child birthdays weren't made much of a fuss of.
But I seem to remember I had some shame around lots of things. Movies have helped this process of loving yourself. Dead Poets Society and Beautiful Dreamers both have strong Whitman influences . But ultimately you have to take the risk, that people will turn up, and fortunately this happened yesterday, including a magnificent cake from Sally, my sons partner.
In certain numerological systems based on the English alphabet, the number 77 is associated with Jesus Christ. CHRIST is C = 3, H = 8, R = 18, I = 9, S = 19, T = 20, which added together equal 77.
Finally I remembered that Ray Davis went on a lot about " Finding Your Voice"
So in the spirit of that lets add - Strive Earnestly for your own Salvation- Be a Light unto Yourself and Plough Your Own Furrow PLG tony
